Do You Love?

Ephesians 5.1-2 (NIV) "Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."

Love is at the heart of Jesus' message. It's key. It's central. The gospel is love; it's very core! There are a lot of thoughts and theories passed off as Christianity today, including some that have become so very popular. There is the message of health and wealth. There is the message of control and power. There is the message of give to get more. The list continues on and on with poor and unbiblical substitutes for the love of Christ. The key question is, "Do you love?"

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another." John 13:34 What a great way to wind down the year, meditating on the love of Jesus in our lives and through our lives.

Response
Thank you, Pastor Ed, for this encouraging message. My husband, Sean, died a little over two months ago, and I was having a very hard time today. It usually is "well with my soul," but I needed the reminder today that God is in control and He will take care of me until the day that I can be with Him and Sean in Heaven. I have not been able to make it back to church since my husband's passing because it's just too hard. However, I always watch the service on the Internet each week ~ just like Sean and I used to do while he was bed-ridden. Thank you for your ministry and faithfulness to the Lord.
