Luke 9:23 (NKJV) Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me."
Not many who follow Jesus would disagree with the ingredients the Bible gives us to be strong in Him. We all know we should be in the Word daily. We all know our prayer lives should be strong, regular, and vibrant. We all know love is that beautiful mark of Jesus living in us by His Spirit.
But there is that continual temptation to not fully give ourselves to the things of God. We are constantly distracted from being wholly given over to Jesus, from being completely devoted, from being fully committed in our relationship with Him.
I see so many believers, as time marches on, give less and less of themselves to the Lord. Their zeal cools down and their commitment tapers off. Then they wonder why things aren’t going so well for them. They wonder why they aren’t hearing from the Lord, why trouble has shown up. They wonder why they are beginning to ‘feel so far from the Lord’.
Please friends, give yourself wholly to Jesus with all that you have. Hold nothing back. You won’t be disappointed.
By His Strength,
Pastor Ed
Response
I think this message came at a perfect time, I am meeting with an old college friend next week, and we haven't talked much lately. I feel God pressing me to share the truth with her, and I am praying he gives me words. She has had an abortion in the past, and she was married 1 year ago, and this month their divorce is final. Please please be in prayer for her, for our conversation, and that she be at the point where she is ready to hear the truth (when I was a new believer in college I let her and everyone else know, and they thought I was crazy.....I hope now she will be more open to what God has to say to her). Thanks again for being so faithful and being an under-rower :)
